DESCRIPTION

Cal/Mag 2:1 offers calcium and magnesium in the standard 2:1 ratio – the same ratio found in the human body.  It has long been understood that the key to these two minerals comes not simply from their extensive individual roles but, rather, from the synergistic effects they exhibit when they are in properly balanced proportion with one another.

Available: 180 Capsules

CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

  • Heart health
  • Brain health
  • Bone health
  • Helps maintain healthy blood pressure and glucose levels
  • Promotes energy production
  • Involved in normal muscle contraction and relaxation
  • Stimulation and calming of nerves

OVERVIEW

Chelated calcium and magnesium in the standard 2:1 ratio

Calcium is required for strong bones, heart health, proper blood clotting, wound healing, muscle function, nerve transmission, intracellular signaling and hormonal secretion.

Magnesium, one of the most critical minerals in the human body, is involved in hundreds of enzyme reactions. Magnesium plays a pivotal role in energy production, heart health, the maintenance of proper blood pressure, optimal bone mineral density, blood sugar regulation, and in helping to prevent the accumulation of aluminum - a toxic metal implicated in many common degenerative neurological disorders.

Intracellular magnesium levels are decreased by excessive intake of alcohol, salt, coffee, phosphoric acid found in sodas, diets high in calcium, and high stress levels.

According to a recent National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES Study) the average intake of magnesium is critically low; many Americans fail to consume the estimated average requirement (EAR) established by the Institute of Medicine.

INGREDIENT BENEFITS

Bioavailability- The Mineral Chelate Difference

Albion minerals -- Albion chelated minerals will result in the highest levels of these minerals in the blood and tissues compared to all other mineral forms on the market.

This supplement contains Albion® mineral chelates.  Albion® is the world leader in manufacturing highly bioavailable mineral chelates, a specialized form of minerals bound to amino acids. This patented process creates organic mineral compounds which use active absorption mechanisms in the gastrointestinal tract to greatly enhance mineral absorption. Comparison studies have shown significantly superior absorption of mineral chelates compared to other mineral forms. In a clinical study comparing calcium absorption in humans, Albion®’s patented calcium chelate delivered the greatest absorption of all calcium sources tested.

The importance of bioavailability is obvious. If consuming a calcium supplement has little effect on improving the body’s calcium balance, there is no reason to ingest it. Signs of inferior mineral supplements include the use of cheap, poorly absorbed, rock-salt minerals, like calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide. These mineral forms slow and limit absorption, relying on adequate stomach acid to release calcium ions which then enter the body via passive diffusion. And, because they tend to remain in the intestines longer, these forms of mineral supplements can cause intestinal distress such as constipation (calcium carbonate) or diarrhea (magnesium oxide).

In addition, mineral chelates are gentle, “gut friendly” minerals that do not cause constipation that often accompanies calcium carbonate and other rock-salt forms. Albion®’s mineral chelates have extensive clinical research proving their superior bioavailability, biologic activity, stability and improved tolerance.
